# ¿Qué es una transacción en cadena?

Una transacción on-chain es una transacción de Bitcoin que se procesa y registra en la cadena de bloques, que es un libro mayor descentralizado e inmutable. Debido a que se registra en la cadena de bloques, una transacción on-chain no puede ser alterada o revertida por nadie una vez que ha sido confirmada.

El tiempo de confirmación para las transacciones on-chain puede variar, pero en promedio toma alrededor de 10 minutos. Sin embargo, durante períodos de alta actividad en la red, puede tomar más tiempo para que una transacción sea confirmada.
