# What is Blink?

[Blink](https://blink.sv/) (formerly Bitcoin Beach Wallet) is a Bitcoin wallet designed to enable bottom-up bitcoin adoption around the world. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, a shopper or a merchant, Blink's feature set makes it a must-have wallet on any phone. Blink's services, features, and account modes are not available in all countries. Here, you will find answers to all your questions related to signing up for a new account, setting up security measures, and navigating our user-friendly interface. Whether you are new to Bitcoin or a seasoned veteran, we are here to guide you through the process of creating an account with Blink Wallet.


# Where can I download and Install Blink?

Blink is currently available for download and installation on the app stores of all major mobile operating systems and phone manufacturers, including [Android ](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.galoyapp)(version 8 or higher), [Huawei](https://appgallery.huawei.com/#/app/C105387593), and [iPhone.](https://apps.apple.com/ng/app/bitcoin-beach-wallet/id1531383905) The easiest way to find Blink in app stores is via the download buttons on [blink.sv](https://blink.sv).

If you are unable to find the app on these stores, it may be due to one of the following reasons:

* Your app store may be registered in a country that does not allow the download or installation or use of this type of wallet due to internal regulations. Examples of such countries include the China and North Korea, find the full list in this answer: [Which countries are unable to download and activate Blink?](https://faq.blink.sv/creating-a-blink-account/which-countries-are-unable-to-download-and-activate-blink)
* On some Huawei phones, you may need to install Google Play Services and Google Play Store before you can download the app.

Users of GrapheneOS, CalyxOS, LineageOS and other Android devices can [download and install Blink directly via an APK](https://github.com/blinkbitcoin/blink-mobile/releases).

Please note that the availability of the app may vary depending on your location and device, so it's always a good idea to check the app store first.


# How to install the APK from GitHub

As the Blink wallet is Free Open Source Software the app is published and can be installed from the releases on GitHub. Installing third party apps is only allowed on Android, not on iOS. Follow these steps to install the app from GitHub:

1. Open the link [github.com/blinkbitcoin/blink-mobile/releases/latest](https://github.com/blinkbitcoin/blink-mobile/releases/latest) on your Android phone to download the latest release of the Blink app
2. Scroll down on the page to `Assets` and choose the `app-universal-release.apk` for the best compatibility.\
   The `app-arm64-v8a-release.apk` is smaller but might not work on old devices.

# Which countries are unable to download and activate Blink?

Blink can be downloaded in most countries, but the services, features, and modes available to you depend on your status and country of residence and on applicable regulation. Blink applies restrictions in the app, and users must not attempt to circumvent them (see the Terms and Conditions).

However, due to sanctions or regulatory restrictions, Blink is restricting access in a number of countries:

**Jurisdictions where Blink cannot offer any services:**

* Belarus
* China
* Cuba
* Iran
* North Korea
* Russia
* Syria
* Sanctioned regions, including Crimea

Blink does not offer services in these jurisdictions due to sanctions or regulatory restrictions.

**Residence-based availability:** The services, features, and modes available to you depend on your status and country of residence. If you reside in the United States or are a US Person (including residents of Puerto Rico and other US territories), only Non-Custodial Mode is available; Custodial Mode and API access are not available. Feature-level restrictions (for example, availability of the Dollar Balance) apply in a number of countries and are enforced in the app; the Blink App shows which modes and features are available to you. See the Terms and Conditions for details.

**Jurisdictions where custodial services are winding down:** In some jurisdictions where Blink is not licensed, new custodial accounts can no longer be created, and existing custodial users have received (or will receive) an in-app notice with instructions and deadlines for moving to Non-Custodial Mode or withdrawing funds to an external wallet. If you received such a notice, the dates and instructions in your notice apply. For the full explanation, options, and timeline, see: Important Changes to Custodial Accounts in Your Region. Non-Custodial Mode generally remains available in these jurisdictions.


# How do I create an account with Blink?

Creating an Blink account is a simple process that involves the following steps:

1. Download the Blink application from your phone's app store or [use the apk on Android](/creating-a-blink-account/how-to-install-the-apk-from-github)
2. Select \`Settings in the upper right corner of the Home Screen
3. Select the flag based on the area code of your phone number
4. Enter your phone number and swipe right to complete the puzzle
5. Enter the code received by SMS

After registering, you can choose between Custodial Mode (Blink holds funds on your behalf) and Non-Custodial Mode (you hold your own keys via the Spark protocol). The availability of each mode depends on your status and country of residence.

## Add an email address (optional)

Adding and email address makes you able to use it to login so you don't need to rely on the phone number. Steps to add and email address:

1. select the menu on the top right and tap `Account`
2. select `Email (for login)`
3. enter an email address and complete the verification to enable login with email

## Set your username (optional)

The username is your internal blink identifier and also serves as your [lightning address](/blink-payment-methods) 6. Select `Settings` 7. Select `Your Blink address` and click in `Set your Blink Address` 8. Choose a username for your account. Your username should not have any special characters or spaces. If your desired username is not available, you can add numbers or more letters to check for availability. 9. Click on `Set Your Blink Address` to finalize the creation of your account


# How can I recover my account if I lost my phone number?

## Custodial Mode accounts

Currently, we are unable to recover accounts solely through lost phone numbers due to security reasons. This is why it's crucial to associate an email address with your Blink account during the initial setup. By adding an email address to your account, you ensure that you can still access your Blink account even if you lose your phone number.

To add or update your email address, follow these steps:

1. Open the Blink app and navigate to Settings.
2. Go to the Account section.
3. Select "Email" and enter your preferred email address.
4. Verify your email address through the confirmation link sent to your email inbox.

Once your email address is linked to your Blink account, you can use it to sign in and manage your account securely. If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, please reach out to Blink support for help.

## Non-Custodial Mode accounts

If you are using Non-Custodial Mode, Blink cannot recover your funds — you hold your own private keys. Make sure to back up your keys securely. If you lose both your phone number and your keys, your funds cannot be recovered by Blink or anyone else.

You can still regain access to your Non-Custodial Mode account using your email address (if one was added) or by restoring from your key backup.


# Where can I find my Lightning address?

You can find your Lightning address within the Blink app. Here's how:

1. Open the Blink app on your mobile device.
2. Navigate to the "Settings" section.
3. Select "Your Blink Address."
4. Your username, which also serves as your internal Blink identifier and Lightning address, will be displayed on the screen.

Additionally, you can access your Lightning address by following these steps:

1. Open the Blink app on your mobile device.
2. Navigate to the "Receive" section.
3. Select the Lightning Network tab.
4. Your Lightning address will be displayed on the screen. It typically starts with "ln" followed by a string of characters.


# What information do I need to provide to register to Blink?

You only need a smartphone and internet access. Download the app and open it — no personal information is required to get started.

We recommend adding a phone number and email address to your account, which enables login recovery and unlocks additional features such as setting a username. Adding a phone number also allows you to increase your transaction limits if you choose Custodial Mode.

Once you've entered your phone number, you'll receive an SMS or WhatsApp text message for account authentication. After that, you can create an optional unique username for Lightning Address and internal Blink transactions.

Blink offers two modes of operation — Custodial Mode and Non-Custodial Mode — and the availability of each depends on your status and country of residence. See the Terms and Conditions for details.

Please note that the username you create will be visible to other Blink users, so we recommend choosing your username with this in mind.

Once registered it is recommended to [add an email address](/creating-a-blink-account/how-do-i-create-an-account-with-blink#add-an-email-address-optional) which you can use to log in going forward.


# What should I do if I don't receive an SMS?

If you don't receive the SMS text to complete your Blink registration, make sure your phone has international SMS text messaging permissions or is connected to the internet to receive the confirmation code via WhatsApp.

Check the following steps:

* **Check Signal and Coverage:** Ensure you have strong signal and network coverage.
* **Restart Connection:** Try restarting your connection by toggling Airplane mode on and off.
* **Login with email instead:** If you have already associated an email with your account, you can use it to log in instead of SMS verification.
* **Check Phone Number:** Double-check if you entered your phone number correctly. If there's a typo, correct it and try again.
* **Wait for Retry:** Blink allows up to 4 attempts per 3 days for SMS delivery. If you have already exceeded this limit, you will need to wait until the cooldown period expires before trying again.


# How do I contact Blink Support team?

# Is it possible to change the phone number associated with a username after creating a Blink account?

Yes, it is possible to change the phone number associated with your username after creating a Blink account. Follow these steps to update your phone number:

1. Go to the "Settings" section in your Blink app.
2. Navigate to the "Account" settings
3. Ensure that you have associated an email address with your account for account recovery purposes.
4. Delete the current phone number associated with your account.
5. Add the new phone number that you wish to associate with your Blink account.

By following these steps, you can update your phone number within the Blink app. This allows you to maintain accurate and up-to-date contact information associated with your account.


# Can I change my username after creating my Blink account?

Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to change your username once it has been created. Your username is permanently linked to your wallet and phone number.


# Why can't I complete the puzzle to receive SMS?

If you are having difficulty completing the puzzle to receive an SMS, it could be due to issues with your phone's touchscreen, puzzle does not display correctly or because too many unsuccessful attempts have been made. In such cases, Blink may temporarily block further attempts for security reasons.

We suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the app but if the same problem persists please contact us at <support@blink.sv> for assistance.


# Do I need to complete KYC to create a Blink account?

All you need is a phone number with international SMS text messaging permissions and an internet connection.

After entering your phone number and receiving the account authentication SMS or Whatsapp message, you can create a unique username for internal Blink transactions and unlock other features in the wallet.


# How can I delete my Blink account?

## Deleting your account (permanent)

To permanently delete your Blink account:

1. **Withdraw your funds** — Send any remaining balance to another Bitcoin wallet. Once the account is deleted, funds cannot be recovered.
2. Open the **☰ menu** (top left) → **Settings** → **Account** → **Danger Zone**.
3. Follow the prompts to confirm deletion.

**This action is irreversible.** Your username will be permanently retired and cannot be reused by anyone — including you. Your phone number will become available for a new account after a short waiting period.

## Removing an account from your device (not deletion)

If you use Blink's **Switch Accounts** feature, you may see an **✕** button next to each account. Tapping **✕** only removes the account from your device — it does **not** delete the account.

To add the account back to your device, go to **Switch Accounts** → tap **+** → log in with your phone number or email.

# What will I find on the main screen of my Blink account?

1. **Balance Display:** Your current balance, shown in both Bitcoin Balance and Dollar Balance (where available).

# Why do I see a balance of 0 when I log in to my account?

If you are seeing a balance of 0 when you log in to your account, it could be due to using an incorrect phone number associated with your account and you actually just created a new account. Please ensure that you are logging in with the correct phone number that is linked to your account.

Here’s what you can do:

1. **Verify Phone Number:** Double-check if you are using the correct phone number associated with your Blink account.
2. **Try Alternate Methods:** If you have associated an email with your account, you can try logging in using your email instead of your phone number.


# How do I receive a transaction with Blink?

Blink was created to facilitate sending and receiving Bitcoin transactions using on-chain, LNURL & Lightning.

You can provide the following information to receive a transaction:

* Your on-chain address (starts with `bc1...`). Incoming on-chain transactions (deposit) require 2 confirmations to become available for spending.
* Creating a Lightning invoice (BOLT11 format, starting with `lnbc1...`)
* Point of Sale (PoS or Cash Register) web app
* Use the Lightning Address, which uses an email address form (eg. <yourusername@blink.sv>)
* Using your Blink Paycode (also known as an LNURL)

You can also receive payments to your Blink username from other Blink users. Please note, that this feature is only available for Blink to Blink payments and will NOT work with other apps like Chivo or Strike.


# How do I send a transaction with Blink?

Blink provides an easy way to send Bitcoin transactions using both on-chain and Lightning networks. To send a transaction, you can do the following:

* Enter the recipient's on-chain address (starting with `bc1...`) or a Lightning invoice (starting with `lnbc1...`).
* Alternatively, you can use the recipient's Lightning Address which looks like an email address (e.g. `username@blink.sv`) or the username of another Blink user to make the payment.
* Choose if you want to spend from your Bitcoin or Stablesats (USD) account.
* Finally, confirm the transaction details and send the payment.


# Which methods can I use to send and receive transactions using Blink

# How can I add balance to my Blink account?

There are several ways to add funds to your Blink account:

1. Earn or receive bitcoin: sell some goods or get paid in bitcoin to your Blink wallet.
2. Send bitcoin from an exchange or other wallet using the Lightning Network.
3. Send bitcoin from an exchange or other wallet on-chain to the provided Bitcoin wallet address.
4. Acquire bitcoin through a third-party service — for example peer-to-peer platforms or Bitcoin ATMs (see [Coin ATM Radar](https://coinatmradar.com/)) — and send it to your Blink wallet. Fees and availability are set by those providers.

Please note that fees may apply depending on the method you choose to add funds to your Blink account.

Note: in jurisdictions where custodial services are winding down, receiving funds to a custodial account is disabled from the cutoff date stated in your in-app notice. For the full explanation, options, and timeline, see the announcement: Important Changes to Custodial Accounts in Your Region — the dates in your personal in-app notice take precedence. Receiving in Non-Custodial Mode is unaffected.


# What are Blink's account limits?

Transaction limits apply to Custodial Mode accounts and depend on your account level, your status and country of residence, and applicable regulation. Your current limits are displayed in the Blink App within your custodial account, if you have one. In Non-Custodial Mode you hold your own funds and these limits do not apply.


# Upgrading to a level 2 account

Upgrading your account to level 2 will come with benefits:

* increased transaction limits
* access to [transfer to bank accounts in selected countries](https://faq.blink.sv/using-blink/how-do-i-cash-out-my-blink-funds)
* possible recovery through the support if you lose access to your account

To complete the process will need to provide additional data to be verified: your name, a government issued ID and a selfie.

Follow these steps to upgrade your account:

1. Go to the "Settings" section in your Blink app.
2. Navigate to the "Account" settings
3. Select the "Upgrade your account" option
4. Follow the instructions guiding you through the upgrade process

# Upgrading a legacy Trial account

Trial accounts are no longer offered. If you have an existing Trial account, you can upgrade it to a level 1 account to keep using it.

A Trial account has low transaction limits and cannot send or receive on-chain. Upgrading to level 1 comes with benefits:

* Increased transaction limits (your current limits are shown in the Blink App)
* Ability to recover the account using your registered phone number (SMS / WhatsApp) or email
* Functions like on-chain send and receive, setting a username, a Lightning address, the Point of Sale (PoS or Cash Register) webpage, and a static Paycode

To upgrade your Trial account (level 0) to level 1, verify a phone number:

1. In the Blink Wallet, open the menu at the top right and tap `Account`
2. Select `Backup/upgrade account`
3. Complete the account setup with a phone number

We recommend adding an email address as well, so you can also recover your account with email:

1. Open the menu at the top right and tap `Account`
2. Select `Email (for login)`
3. Enter an email address and complete the verification to enable login with email

Note: Trial, level 1, and level 2 accounts are Custodial Mode accounts, and their availability depends on your status and country of residence. You can also move to a Non-Custodial Mode account, where you hold your own keys — a guided step-by-step migration is being rolled out in the app, or you can create a non-custodial account yourself and transfer your funds. If you received an in-app notice that custodial services are ending in your jurisdiction, you can still upgrade your existing Trial account — upgrading helps you recover, move, or withdraw your funds — but the dates and instructions in your notice apply. # How do I withdraw my Blink funds?

To withdraw your Blink funds, you can use the following methods:

You can also withdraw your bitcoin to a third-party service and receive local currency there — for example peer-to-peer platforms, Bitcoin ATMs (see [Coin ATM Radar](https://coinatmradar.com/)), or third-party trading platforms that support Lightning or on-chain withdrawals. Fees and availability are set by those providers.

Please note that fees may apply dependent on the exchange method you use and the availability of these methods may vary. It's always recommended to research and compare the fees and rates of different providers before choosing a method to cash out your funds.

If you received an in-app notice that custodial services are ending in your jurisdiction, please follow the instructions and deadlines in that notice. You can move your balance to Non-Custodial Mode in the app where available, or withdraw to an external wallet at any time before your deadline. # How does the Blink wallet work?

The Blink wallet offers a user-friendly platform to manage your Bitcoin funds and perform various types of transactions. Here's a breakdown of what you can do with the wallet:

Blink operates in two modes: Custodial Mode (your funds are held in custody by your Blink contracting entity) and Non-Custodial Mode (you hold your own keys via the Spark protocol; Blink cannot access, freeze, or recover your funds). Some features below are available only in one mode or only in certain jurisdictions — see the Terms and Conditions.

1. **Store and Use Bitcoin:** You can securely store your Bitcoin in your Blink wallet and use it to make purchases online or offline. Simply scan the recipient's QR code or enter their Bitcoin address to send payments.
2. **Receive Bitcoin:** Share your wallet address with others to receive Bitcoin. When someone sends you Bitcoin, it will appear in your wallet's balance, ready to be used or saved.
3. **On-Chain Transactions**: Blink supports traditional on-chain Bitcoin transactions. If you choose to send Bitcoin using the on-chain network, you need to enter the recipient's Bitcoin address and the amount you want to send. These transactions are recorded directly on the Bitcoin blockchain.
4. **Lightning Network Transactions:** Blink also supports Lightning Network transactions, a layer built on top of the Bitcoin network. Lightning Network offers faster and cheaper transactions. To send a Lightning Network payment, you can use the recipient's Lightning Network invoice, which specifies the amount and recipient's Lightning Network node. Lightning transactions are ideal for quick, low-cost transactions.
5. **Dollar Balance:** Hold a stable USD-denominated balance. In Custodial Mode, the Dollar Balance is powered by Stablesats; in Non-Custodial Mode, it holds the USDB stablecoin (issued by Brale) on the Spark protocol. The Dollar Balance is not available in all jurisdictions. See the Terms and Conditions for details and risks.
6. **Transfer:** Where available, transfer between your Bitcoin Balance and Dollar Balance at the rate displayed in the app. Transfers between balances are not available in all jurisdictions.
7. **Merchant Features**: Blink provides convenient merchant features such as the Point of Sale (PoS or Cash Register) and Pay Code. The Point of Sale enables businesses to accept Bitcoin payments, whether on-chain or through Lightning, providing a seamless point-of-sale experience. The Pay Code feature allows businesses, fundraisers, and individuals to display a QR code that customers can scan and pay in seconds.
8. **Map Feature:** Explore the map feature in Blink to discover businesses near you that accept Bitcoin. You can easily locate these merchants and make payments directly to them by clicking "Pay to this business" on their pin location.
9. **Earn Feature:** Blink's Earn section offers a fun way to earn sats (small units of Bitcoin) by learning about Bitcoin basics. Answer questions correctly to earn sats, which will automatically appear in your wallet.

With Blink, you have a comprehensive suite of features at your fingertips, making it easy to manage your Bitcoin, transact with merchants, explore nearby businesses, and even earn sats while expanding your Bitcoin knowledge.


# Can I pay with a credit or debit card?

No, Blink is a Bitcoin wallet that allows you to send and receive Bitcoin (BTC) payments with Lightning and onchain. You can use Blink to pay for goods and services at any business that accepts Bitcoin.


# What options there are if the Blink app is not compatible with my phone?

Phones running an Android version lower than 8.0 are no longer compatible with the Blink app.

# What are mining fees?

Mining fees are small amounts of Bitcoin that you pay to get your transactions confirmed by the network. The fees are paid to miners, who are special computers that secure the network and confirm transactions. These fees ensure that your transactions are processed quickly and securely. Blink does not keep any of the transaction fees, they go directly to the miners.

The amount of mining fees you need to attach to your transaction depends on several factors, including the congestion level of the network, the size of your transaction in bytes, and the current demand for block space. During times of high network traffic, fees tend to increase, and during times of low traffic, fees tend to decrease.

If the mining fees calculated are more than the 10% of the amount you are preparing to send Blink will show a notification: `High fee! We recommend Lightning.`

1. Network congestion: When there are many pending transactions waiting to be confirmed, the fees tend to go up to incentivize miners to prioritize your transaction.

No, there are no transaction fees for sending or receiving Bitcoin within the Blink wallets.

Transactions between two Blink wallets are considered internal and are processed without any additional charges. However, when sending Bitcoin to external wallets, regular network fees may apply depending on the type of transaction (on-chain or lightning)

# What are the fees for receiving Bitcoin in my Blink wallet?

When you receive a **Lightning transaction** in your Bitcoin wallet in Blink, there is no fee charged to you by Blink. However, the sender will pay a Lightning routing fee to cover the cost of routing the payment through the Lightning Network. This routing fee is not retained by Blink.

When you receive an **on-chain transaction** in your Bitcoin wallet in Blink, a tiered fixed fee applies (the amount depends on the transaction size — see the Blink App for current tiers). Note that on-chain deposits must exceed a minimum amount (the dust threshold plus the deposit fee) to be processed. Consider using Lightning to receive small payments where there is no minimum amount. The sender also pays a miner fee, which is not retained by Blink.

# What are the fees for transferring between your Bitcoin Balance and Dollar Balance?

When you transfer funds between your Bitcoin Balance and Dollar Balance, a spread is applied and retained by Blink. The current spread is displayed in the Blink App when you initiate a transfer.

The same spread applies in both directions — Bitcoin Balance to Dollar Balance, and Dollar Balance to Bitcoin Balance.

# What is a fee reimbursement in Blink, and when does it happen?

When you send a Bitcoin payment using the Lightning Network through Blink, the app attempts to determine the most accurate routing fee by probing different payment paths. This process is indicated by a spinning circle on the send screen.

However, sometimes the probing may fail due to certain nodes not responding, or you might choose to send the payment before the probing completes. In such cases, Blink charges an estimated fee, which might be higher than the actual fee incurred once the payment is settled.

To ensure fairness, Blink automatically reimburses the difference between the estimated fee charged and the actual fee paid. This reimbursement is credited back to your balance and appears as a transaction labeled "Fee Reimbursement."

**Example:**

• You send a payment, and Blink estimates the fee to be 100 sats due to incomplete probing.

• After the payment is settled, the actual fee turns out to be 20 sats.

• Blink reimburses you 80 sats, which is the difference between the estimated and actual fees.

**Tips to Minimize Overestimated Fees:**

• Wait for the spinning circle to stop before confirming your payment. This allows Blink to complete the probing process and calculate a more accurate fee.

• Ensure a stable internet connection to facilitate successful probing.

# Earn Section

The Earn Section of Blink is a gamified educational feature that rewards users with sats for learning about Bitcoin. By accessing the Earn section in the bottom right of Blink app, users can answer a series of questions related to money, bitcoin and its underlying technology.

Each correct answer earns the user a predetermined amount of sats, which are automatically credited to their wallet upon completion. This not only encourages users to expand their knowledge about bitcoin, but also allows them to accumulate sats without having to invest additional funds.


# How does the earn section work?

The Earn Section of Blink is a fun way for our users to earn sats by learning the basics about bitcoin.

* the phone number registered to your account originates from a restricted area. This limitation is not related to your account specifically, but is necessary to curb malicious activities from that region. We are unable to offer a workaround at this time. However, we are exploring future enhancements to the Earn feature that would allow its use without involving payments.

# Chivo wallet and ATM

The Chivo wallet is the official Bitcoin wallet of El Salvador. It is available for both Android and iOS devices. The wallet is integrated with the Chivo ATM network, which allows users to withdraw and deposit cash at any of the 200+ ATMs located throughout the country. The wallet also supports Lightning payments (but not shows that by default), which allows users to send and receive Bitcoin instantly and with low fees.

# How to prove that a lightning invoice was paid?

In the realm of the Lightning Network (LN), a Proof of Payment (PoP) serves as a verifiable acknowledgment that a specific transaction has successfully occurred. Lightning payments are atomic meaning that if there is a pre-image received by the payer the payment was surely received by the destination node.

**How Does Proof of Payment Work in the Lightning Network?**

1. **Invoice Generation by the Payee's Node**:
   * The process begins with the creation of a Lightning Network invoice by the payee's node. This invoice is not just a simple payment request but a complex structure comprising various elements crucial for the transaction. One of the critical components of this invoice is a cryptographic hash of a secret, known as the 'payment pre-image'.
2. **Invoice Signing**:
   * To ensure authenticity and prevent tampering, the payee's node digitally signs the invoice. This signature is a cryptographic proof that the invoice was indeed generated by the actual owner of the node and not an imposter.
3. **Payment and Disclosure of Pre-Image**:
   * Once the payer decides to fulfill the invoice, the payment is routed through the Lightning Network to reach the payee. Upon successful receipt of the payment, the payee's node releases the 'payment pre-image' to the payer. This pre-image is essentially the secret whose hash was included in the invoice.
4. **Combination of Invoice and Pre-Image as Proof of Payment**:
   * The final step in establishing a Proof of Payment is the combination of the original LN invoice and the payment pre-image. The payer can use these two pieces to prove that a payment was made to the payee. Essentially, with this two pieces of information anyone can verify that the hash in the invoice corresponds to the pre-image provided upon payment, proving that the transaction indeed occurred as claimed.
